Youssra El Hawary Announces New EP ‘Taraddud’ September 22nd
The Egyptian indie-folk artist makes a comeback after nearly an eight-year hiatus, with an EP fully produced by her.

Youssra El Hawary, a prominent figure in Cairo’s underground scene, is making a comeback with a new EP, ‘Taradud’, after nearly an eight-year hiatus. Scheduled for release on September 22nd, ‘Taradud’ carries a double entendre in Arabic, referring to Youssra’s hesitation in finding the right way to express herself musically, but also to the frequencies of the urban noise that permeates her environment.
The three-track record marks her production debut, featuring field recordings from Cairo’s streets and urban noise combined with elements of jazz, folk and ambient electronics. The album promises a more reflective tone compared to her previous work, touching on themes of doubt, hope and resistance.
