Rap of the Week | Sept 21 - 27
Spanning various rap sub-genres, the list is forefronted by artists like Nordo, Hleem Taj Elser and Bu Kolthoum.

In this installment of our Rap of the Week playlist, the SceneNoise radar detected some of the best hip-hop releases from across the MENA region. Spanning various rap sub-genres, the list is forefronted by artists like Nordo, Hleem Taj Elser and Bu Kolthoum.
Following a streak of single releases, Tunisian rap star Marwen Jibali aka Nordo drops his latest track ‘Cameleon’. Produced by CemoProd, the beat relies on a haunting piano sample layered by hard-hitting kick drums and robust 808s, allowing Nordo to come in with his sharp vocal delivery and commanding flows.
We also see the latest collaboration between two of the biggest names in Arabic hip-hop: Bu Kolthoum and SmallX on the track ‘Khali’. The track, which was released as part of Bu’s latest full length LP ‘Dumya Bilaa Khie9aan’, is a juxtaposition of the two distinctly different styles of both artists, where Bu Kolthoum’s melodic flows contrasts with SmallX’s gritty and aggressive delivery and technique.
Further down the playlist we see new releases by rising Egyptian rapper Youssef Oliver with ‘Bad Trip’, Hleem Taj Elser with ‘Memento’ and Sky ft. ElGrandeToto on ‘Fi Derbi’.
