This week's playlist is packed with fresh tunes and standout cross-border collabs, featuring Numbxiller, DaBenz and Connan.
On this edition of Rap of the Week, we take a look at the region's standout hip-hop releases from July 7th to 13th, with entries from artists like Numbxiller, DaBenz, and Connan.
Starting things off, Venice-based Egyptian producer 5amaseen teams up with Cairo-based alt-rap artists Goubi and JO6A on 'El Af3a', a high-octane fix of syncopated rhythms and explosive flows. Also on the Egyptian front, MSHRF delivers a hypnotic blend of melodic rap and North African instrumentation within a pop framework on 'Taffy Nary', while Slyver makes steady moves out of his hiatus with the charismatic cut 'LIMO'.
Meanwhile, Lebanese rapper Billy Tstrk of collective M7DH0N delivers a gritty performance through the streets of Beirut on 'AWWAL FEKRA'. Sudanese heavyweights Connan and Hleem Taj Alser also find their way into the selection with their latest collaboration, 'SHIFT', where the duo trade silky-smooth verses over a laid-back instrumental.
Elsewhere, Moroccan artist DaBenz steps out from behind the scenes with 'Tsat Tsat', the follow-up to his solo debut EP '5 Years Later', released under his own imprint, Burn It or Burn Out, while Tunisian rapper Numbxiller rounds out the selection with raw flows over trap sonics on 'Amalt Eli Amalt'.
The playlist also features Ayvo's '7ASEB A BASHA', Raptor and Astro's 'HARASEEK', and Uyuh's 'MASR YABNI'.
