RTA Launches Autonomous Mobility Testing Lab at Dubai Silicon Oasis

The Roads and Transport Authority has launched Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis, creating a dedicated ground-testing facility for autonomous and future mobility technologies.

Developed in collaboration with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, the facility includes dedicated test tracks and a multi-purpose controlled testing area, alongside real-world testing routes extending from Dubai Silicon Oasis to Al Qudra.

A total of 248 test scenarios can be carried out across the wider testing ecosystem, covering different operating conditions before technologies move towards public-road and commercial deployment.

The facility is intended to shorten the path between development, testing and real-world use for autonomous transport systems and other emerging mobility technologies.

DEKRA has been appointed to operate the labs and oversee their activities for the first three years.

The project supports the Dubai Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which targets converting 25% of mobility journeys in the emirate into autonomous trips by 2030.
