This installment of our weekly rap playlist features picks from hip-hop trailblazers from across the Middle East and North Africa region, such as Perrie, MARED, and Hassan Yasser.
Egyptian-Moroccan rap sensation Perrie returns in full command with ‘Ganaza’, an unapologetic tune produced by Moneyminers. With sharp-tongued bars steeped in dark wit, Perrie slices through fake personas and calls out the industry’s cheap veneers. Meanwhile, Cairene artist MARED released ‘Ma3lesh’, a confrontational and tongue-in-cheek flex of lyrical wit and unshakable self-awareness. Over a slick, minimal beat, MARED swerves between Arabic and English with effortless assertiveness, firing off jabs at clout-chasers while staking his claim as an original voice in the scene.
Rising artist and Mexico team’s newest member Hassan Yasser comes through with ‘El Shanta Feha Eh’ from his debut EP ‘Ma3rfsh Bansa Wala La2a’, a cypher-inducing tune featuring rap icons like Abyusif, Abo El Anwar and Lil Baba.
The playlist also includes Palestinian-Egyptian rapper and singer Ma-Beyn with ‘Ma3kom’, and Morocco’s stars BLAN, Villain and Furelise with ‘One Piece’.
