In this installation of Rap of the Week, the SceneNoise team brings you the region's best new releases from this past week, featuring tracks from Afroto, Snor, Ka7la and more.

Hailing from Benghazi, Libyan rapper Ka7la teamed up with Norfafrica on ‘Blueberry’. The production, helmed by Haytt, is minimal yet atmospheric, evoking an airy nocturnal feel and leaving plenty of room for Ka7la’s contemplative verses. Through clever worldplay and laid-back flows, the rapper tackles themes of solitude, identity, ambition and mental health, capturing the tension of a rising artist still seeking recognition.

Next up, Egyptian rap star Afroto returns with ‘Gamda’, produced by Omar Gangster, and mixed and mastered by Ahmed G. Over a genre-bending production imbued with tabla percussion and reggaeton influences, Afroto kicks off with a melodic flow and a playful tone to sing about his feelings of longing for his significant other. He then shifts into rapid flows, delivering bars about his rivals in the scene in an assertive and commanding manner.

Egyptian rapper Turk has also released the second season of his trilogy ‘MOSLSL TURK’, featuring a collaborative track with rising Moroccan rapper Hassa1. Titled ‘Oh Woh’, and produced by S13 and Scofield, the track features both rappers trading introspective and raw bars in English, Arabic and Darija, on inner conflicts and emotional dissonance against the backdrop of a classic trap beat.

The playlist also features masked Moroccan rapper SNOR with his hard-hitting ‘Darba’, along with Tunisian rapper ODA with ‘Odable’, 3ab3az with ‘John Cena’, and 7ari, Ramoon and Draganov collaborating on ‘Koulchi Dial Allah’.
