Inkonnu Channels Dragon Ball Z in Post-Hiatus Release ‘Genkidama’
Away for over a year, the Moroccan rapper returns recharged and ready - and none is safe.
After well over a year away from music, Moroccan rapper, Inkonnu, has made a spirited return, dropping new music that cements his position as one of the country’s most popular rappers. ‘Genkidama’ frames his hiatus not as retreat but an act of creative regeneration, as he comes out swinging to seemingly make up for lost time.
The track’s name is a reference to the ultimate Dragon Ball Z attack, a move where energy is gathered from all living things before being unleashed in a fatal blast. It lands as an explicit metaphor for his hiatus during which he channeled the pressures, struggles and realities of Moroccan youth into a dangerously concentrated force.
One might even go as far as to suggest that Genkidama is the sound of a year of internal friction, frustration and ambition finally detonating - and one is safe from the inevitable shrapnel.
