The Oberoi Sukoonvilas Set to Open in Wadi Safar in 2027
The 60-villa resort will bring Oberoi hospitality to Wadi Safar, a valley west of Diriyah in Riyadh, with dining, wellness and branded residences.
Wadi Safar, the desert valley west of Diriyah in Riyadh, is getting its first luxury hotel. The Oberoi Sukoonvilas is due to open in the first quarter of 2027 with 60 standalone villas, 10 branded residences and a 65-metre infinity pool looking out across the valley.
The resort is being designed by Aedas with a clear Najdi influence: shaded courtyards, water features and plenty of indoor-outdoor spaces worked into the architecture. Blink is handling the interiors, while the wider concept mixes Saudi references with Oberoi’s Indian roots rather than leaning wholly in one direction.
Food looks set to be a big part of the stay. Yatra will serve contemporary Indian dishes by Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai, Linnet will be a pastry and café space overseen by Lily Vanilli, and Beyla will cover international cuisine. A fourth restaurant will sit by the pool, with views across the surrounding escarpment.
There is also a sizeable wellness side to the resort through ASMI by Oberoi, including personalised programmes, hammams, indoor wellness pools and fitness facilities. Wadi Safar itself sits within the wider Diriyah development, with golf, equestrian and residential projects also planned for the area.
