Rafeeq App Launches for Egyptian Umrah Pilgrims
The new app enables pilgrims to verify travel, accommodation and return details through QR codes and digital check-ins.
A new digital platform for Egyptian Umrah pilgrims has been launched by the Central Administration for Tourism Companies, with the Rafeeq app now available through official app stores.
The application assigns each pilgrim a unique QR code, which must be presented to the relevant authorities at Egyptian ports before departure. It also allows pilgrims to confirm their arrival at their contracted accommodation in Mecca and Madinah, as well as verify their return through Egyptian ports once the Umrah programme has concluded.
Under regulations issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, tourism companies are required to inform pilgrims, or their families, to download the app and create an individual account for each traveller when booking an Umrah package.
Pilgrims must also upload documents confirming their travel arrangements, including their trip contract and payment receipt. Tourism companies have been instructed to respond promptly to reports and notifications submitted through Rafeeq and other official communication channels.
A separate application, Rafeeq Supervision, has also been introduced for tourism company supervisors. The platform is used to record a group's departure from the customs area at Egyptian travel ports, confirm arrivals at contracted accommodation in Mecca and Madinah, and verify the group's return to Egypt at the end of the programme.
