PlayStation will replace the US dollar with the UAE dirham as the official currency for its online store in the UAE, with prices, charges and receipts set to display in AED after a scheduled maintenance window.

The storefront will undergo maintenance from October 5th to 8th to implement the change. During that period, transactions will be unavailable, including credit and debit card payments, other payment methods and wallet top-ups.

According to a customer notice sent to users, no action is required from account holders. Once the maintenance is completed, UAE accounts will automatically transition to local-currency pricing.

The same notice states that users in Saudi Arabia will also see PlayStation Store prices and charges displayed in riyals after October 8th.

PlayStation also said payments on the PlayStation 3 store will be unavailable from October 5th. The notice did not provide further details on whether existing purchases will be affected.
