Medical Tourism Revenues Surpass USD 10 Million in Egypt
Nearly 42,000 international patients have received treatment at hospitals run by the General Authority for Healthcare.
Medical tourism revenues at hospitals run by Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare have risen 37% year on year to more than USD 10 million, with nearly 42,000 international patients receiving treatment through the authority’s facilities.
The authority is now expanding its medical tourism strategy, with priority specialties including cosmetic procedures, in-vitro fertilisation, obesity treatment and advanced dental care. It plans to develop integrated medical packages tailored to different international markets and contracting partners.
Further integration is also planned with Tour 4 Cure, Egypt’s national medical tourism platform. Healthcare services across the authority’s facilities will be linked to the platform, alongside digital systems covering referrals, coordination, patient reception and the wider treatment journey.
Dedicated points of contact and service areas for international patients are also being established within healthcare facilities, with the aim of creating a clearer pathway from arrival through the completion of treatment.
The authority is additionally preparing to coordinate with specialised medical centres in Turkey following a recent visit, with cooperation expected to focus on service development, marketing and attracting patients from overseas markets.
The next phase of the strategy will focus on increasing both international patient numbers and medical tourism revenues while expanding Egypt’s position in regional and international healthcare markets.
