Final Year Students Can No Longer Transfer to International Schools
The Ministry of Education says late transfers disrupt international curricula and leave students on unequal academic footing.

Students will no longer be able to transfer into the second or third years of international secondary schools under new regulations announced by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
Starting with the 2026/2027 academic year, transfers into the third year of secondary school at international schools will no longer be permitted. The ministry added that 2026/2027 will also be the final academic year in which transfers into the second year are allowed. From 2027/2028 onwards, transfers to international secondary schools will be restricted to students entering the first year only.
According to the ministry, international secondary programmes are designed as sequential courses of study that begin in the first year, with each stage building on the previous one. It said students must complete the programme from its outset to meet graduation requirements and comply with the academic regulations governing each international education system.
The ministry said allowing students to join in the second or third year could disrupt programme requirements, affect the implementation of accredited curricula and undermine equal opportunities among students. It added that education directorates across the country have been notified of the new regulations, warning that any violations will be referred to the ministry's General Department of Legal Affairs.
The decision comes as wider reforms continue across Egypt's secondary education system, including the introduction of new curricula, the optional Egyptian Baccalaureate pathway and the expansion of government-run International Public Schools.
