Employment Support Salary Threshold to Reach SAR 6,000 by 2028

Saudi Arabia will raise the minimum monthly salary eligible for employment support to SAR 5,000 on April 25th, 2027, followed by a second increase to SAR 6,000 on April 25th, 2028, according to the Human Resources Development Fund.

The revised thresholds will apply immediately to new applications from those dates. Existing applications will reflect the changes beginning with payments for May 2027 and May 2028 respectively.

The adjustments follow the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s decision to raise the minimum salary required for a Saudi employee to be counted under Saudization. The current threshold stands at SAR 4,000.

The Human Resources Development Fund said it will continue covering up to 50% of eligible Saudi employees’ monthly salaries, capped at SAR 3,000 per month, subject to the Employment Support Program’s existing terms and conditions.

The programme supports private-sector employers hiring Saudi men and women by subsidising part of their salaries. The fund said the higher thresholds are intended to improve job quality and sustainability while encouraging employers to recruit Saudi workers.
