Egypt's Iconic Nile TV Will Make a Digital Comeback
The broadcaster has unveiled a new editorial model, expanded programming and plans for digital platforms.
Nile TV International has relaunched with a new editorial strategy, expanded programming and a digital transformation plan aimed at strengthening its role as Egypt's international television broadcaster in English and French.
According to Nile TV Chairwoman Dina Osman, the relaunch is the first phase of a broader institutional transformation focused on strengthening editorial operations, investing in talent and presenting Egypt's perspective to international audiences. The channel will continue operating under the Nile TV International name with a new visual identity inspired by the colours of the Egyptian flag.
The broadcaster has expanded its original daily output from around six hours to more than 15 hours, adding news bulletins, current affairs programming and new shows covering politics, business, culture, tourism, Arab affairs and African affairs. A business programme titled 'Market Insights' has also joined the schedule, alongside English- and French-language religious programmes promoting the values of moderate Islam.
Operational changes include a restructured newsroom, new editorial procedures and the launch of a dedicated Digital Media and Archiving Department. The next phase will see the channel introduce a new website, live streaming and a broader social media presence.
Separately, the Egyptian presidency said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reviewed progress on digitising Egypt's state radio and television archives, including plans for the Maspero Platform and upgrades to broadcasting infrastructure as part of efforts to preserve and expand access to the country's media content.
