Dubai to Launch Licensed Gardening Service on Careem

Al Freej Gardener, a new government-backed service that allows Dubai residents to book licensed gardeners and landscaping specialists through the Careem app, is set to launch in September.

Developed by Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs Dubai in partnership with Careem, the platform is designed to connect households with approved service providers while introducing greater oversight of home gardening services across the emirate.

A memorandum of cooperation formalising the initiative sets out responsibilities for regulation, training, awareness campaigns and project monitoring. Under the agreement, Dubai Municipality will coordinate the programme, deliver training and promote environmentally responsible gardening practices. Dubai Police will lead community awareness campaigns on safety, while the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs Dubai will provide guidance on visa and work permit requirements to support legal employment.

Careem, working alongside Justlife, will develop and operate the digital platform while managing the registration and onboarding of approved gardening companies. Only providers that meet Dubai's licensing and regulatory requirements will be listed on the service.

Through the platform, residents will be able to book services including garden design, routine maintenance, irrigation system installation and repairs, and agricultural consultancy. According to the participating authorities, the initiative is intended to improve service standards, strengthen neighbourhood safety and support the maintenance of green spaces through more sustainable landscaping practices.
