Dubai Robotaxis Complete 7,600 Passenger Trips Since Launch
Dubai’s robotaxi programme has passed four million kilometres of travel, with 144 vehicles in the fleet and fully driverless rides now available in selected areas.
Dubai’s robotaxis have travelled more than four million kilometres and completed 7,613 passenger trips since operations began, with customer satisfaction reaching 97%.
The fleet currently includes 144 vehicles, of which 48 are in active operation, completing around 50 trips per day. According to the Roads and Transport Authority, the figures point to growing public uptake as autonomous taxis move from testing towards wider commercial use.
The programme has been introduced in stages, beginning with trials under real traffic conditions and gradually moving from vehicles carrying safety drivers to fully driverless services. Dubai is working with autonomous mobility companies including Baidu’s Apollo Go, WeRide and Pony.ai as it develops the network.
Fully driverless Apollo Go taxis are already available to book through Uber in selected areas of Dubai, with New Horizon Luxury Transport operating the fleet. The RT6 vehicles use artificial intelligence alongside LiDAR, radar and camera systems to navigate city roads without a driver.
