348 Million Trips Recorded Across Dubai's Transport Network in H1 2026
Dubai Metro remained the busiest mode of transport, accounting for nearly 40% of all journeys.
A total of 348.1 million trips were made across Dubai's public transport, shared mobility services and taxis during the first half of 2026, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), with average daily ridership reaching nearly 1.9 million.
The figures cover the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport, taxis and shared mobility services, including app-based vehicles, hourly rentals and bus-on-demand. Limousines carried a further 5.7 million passengers during the six-month period.
The Dubai Metro accounted for the largest share of journeys at 39.2%, followed by taxis at 25.5% and public buses at 24.4%. Together, the three modes represented around 89% of all recorded trips. January was the busiest month, with 73.4 million passengers, while monthly ridership between February and June ranged from 49 million to 66 million.
During the first half of the year, the Red and Green Metro lines carried around 136.5 million passengers. BurJuman and Union, the network's two interchange stations, recorded the highest footfall with 8.4 million and 6.5 million passengers respectively. On the Red Line, Al Rigga, Mall of the Emirates and Business Bay were the busiest stations, while Sharaf DG, Baniyas Square and Stadium recorded the highest ridership on the Green Line.
Across the rest of the network, public buses carried 85.1 million passengers, taxis served 88.9 million, shared mobility services recorded 25.7 million trips, marine transport carried 8.1 million passengers, and the Dubai Tram served 3.8 million riders.
According to the RTA, the share of journeys made using public transport and shared mobility has increased from 6% in 2006 to 22.3% in 2025, with a target of 25% by 2030. Ongoing projects supporting that goal include the 30-kilometre Blue Line, the planned 42-kilometre Gold Line, the phased deployment of 637 Euro 6 buses, including 40 electric buses, the introduction of driverless taxis, and preparations to launch commercial air taxi operations by the end of the year.
