Around 110 million tonnes of raw material containing uranium concentrations have been identified in the Madinah region, according to Saudi Arabia’s energy minister.
The figure was disclosed during the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference in Vienna. The announcement refers to uranium-bearing ore within the identified material, rather than 110 million tonnes of uranium itself.
The disclosure comes as Saudi Arabia continues developing its nuclear energy programme and exploring domestic uranium resources for potential use in the sector.
