This Saudi Brand Lets Kids Colour Their Own Pyjamas

There are many things children shouldn’t be trusted with: permanent markers, glitter, and, arguably, scissors. But give them a blank canvas, a packet of washable paints, and a bedtime they’d rather delay, and you might just have a masterpiece on your hands—or, in this case, on their pyjamas.

Bejama, a Saudi-born brand started by two sisters with a shared ambition and a deep, almost suspiciously personal understanding of the bedtime chaos parents endure. Their mission is to make high-quality pyjamas for kids (and, mercifully, for mums too) that are soft, durable, and—here’s the fun bit—colourable.

Yes, you read that right. These are pyjamas your child can literally draw on. Sets comes with a pack of special acrylic paints, a blank design (rockets, stars, and the occasional cheeky doodle space), and endless possibilities for your little Picasso to unleash their imagination.

The sisters behind Bejama weren’t always in the pyjama business. Like all great origin stories, theirs started at home: tired of buying overpriced, scratchy PJs that wilted after two washes, they decided to make their own. Each design was trialled on their own kids for a year—who, one assumes, became the most stylish and rigorously beta-tested toddlers in the Gulf.

And because nothing ruins a good bedtime faster than tears over a shrunken rocket ship, Bejama’s sets are made with 95% cotton and 5% spandex for just the right balance of stretch and snugness. Follow the (very specific, slightly anxious-sounding) washing instructions, and the colours will stay put. Ignore them, and you’ll discover why fabric softener is the arch-nemesis of washable paints.

While the kids’ colour-your-own line steals the spotlight, Bejama also offers classic PJ sets for children and women. Think cosy nights in, movie marathons, and the kind of matching family photos you’ll pretend were spontaneous but are absolutely staged.
