CDW 2026’s Theme ‘All About–إحنا’ Examines Egypt’s Creative Identity
Taking place November 19th to 28th, the fourth edition explores the different ways a shared cultural heritage can find expression through design.
What makes a piece of design feel unmistakably ours? Is it the materials, the techniques, the references it draws from, or something less tangible that connects it to the people and culture it comes from?
At Cairo Design Week 2026, taking place from November 19th to 28th, that question sits at the heart of ‘All About–إحنا’, the annual event’s theme for its fourth edition. Drawing on the Egyptian Arabic word for ‘we’ or ‘us’, it explores what it means to share a cultural identity without having to speak a single creative language.
Rather than attempting to define Egyptian design identity, ‘e7na’ recognises the many perspectives, influences and creative expressions that shape it. It looks at the shared cultural understanding that connects generations of creatives and craftspeople, while making room for the different ways that understanding is interpreted, challenged and reimagined.
This thinking extends across this year’s programme, bringing together disciplines that might otherwise occupy very different corners of the design world. Alongside exhibitions and installations, CDW Stage will host discussions spanning architecture, urban development, artificial intelligence, circular design, Arabic lettering and the creative economy. The conversations look beyond the finished work to consider the ideas, technologies and social changes shaping how we design the spaces, objects and experiences around us.
Taking place across Downtown Cairo, Heliopolis and Zamalek, the fourth edition also draws on the city itself as part of the conversation. Its architectural landscape, histories and communities provide a setting for contemporary creative work to engage with the many layers of Cairo.
