Serial Killer Film ‘Safah El Tagamoa’ Pulled From Cinemas
‘Safah El Tagamoa’ was removed from theatres after the Censorship Board for Artistic Works revoked its screening licence hours after its cinematic release.
Egyptian crime film ‘Safah El Tagamoa’ was removed from cinemas after the Censorship Board for Artistic Works revoked its screening licence shortly after its release. The decision came under the authority of Abdel Rahim Kamal, after the film secured approval three days prior.
The decision followed a review that found differences between the version submitted for approval and the final film screened in cinemas. Authorities stated that certain scenes, including depictions of violence, did not comply with the licensing conditions.
The film, based on a real case in the Fifth Settlement, stars Ahmed El-Fishawy and is written and directed by Mohamed Salah El-Azab, with production by Ahmed El-Sobky.
Screenings had already begun across cinemas before distribution was halted. Prior to its withdrawal, the film generated approximately EGP 500,000 in ticket sales.
