You Can Now Decorate Salmon Cake for a Change
Herringa, Cairo Cake Picnic and Goosebumps are hosting what they call Egypt’s first salmon cake-decorating workshop.
Cake decorating has traditionally relied on buttercream, piping bags and the understanding that seafood will remain elsewhere. Herringa, Cairo Cake Picnic and Goosebumps have decided this separation has continued long enough.
On Saturday, September 12th, the three are hosting “Cake, But Make It Salmon”, billed as Egypt’s first salmon cake-decorating workshop. Herringa, a Cairo seafood monger, supplies the event’s principal plot twist, while Cairo Cake Picnic brings the ceremonial logic of gathering around a cake - even when that cake belongs closer to the appetiser table.
Held at Goosebumps on 5 Qasr El Nile Street in Downtown Cairo, the evening will bring together the workshop, music, food and drinks. Guests will decorate their own salmon cakes before confronting the central question posed by any edible craft: whether to admire the finished work or dismantle it immediately with a fork.
Places are limited, with bookings available through the link in Goosebumps’ bio.
