This Damanhour-Based Syrian Street Food Joint Just Made Green Shawarma
It’s shawarma… but make it Shrek-core.
Damanhour-based Syrian street food spot Demeshky has decided to take the city’s unofficial official colour—green—and apply it very, very generously to shawarma.
Their newest invention is called “shawarma pistacchio”—a name that confidently implies luxury nuts and sophistication… except there’s one tiny plot twist: there is no pistachio. At all. The green colour? That comes from mint. Yes, mint shawarma. Mint toum. Mint basically everything. If it can be blended, it’s probably been invited to the mint agenda.
The result is a neon-green shawarma situation. The concept comes in two forms: a classic chicken shawarma sandwich (as classic as something can be when it looks like it should be served in a spa) and a fattah bowl for those who prefer their mint chaos layered and committed.
