Veterinary Operations Rooms & Hotline Activated Across Egypt for Eid
Inspection teams and rapid response units will monitor markets and abattoirs during Eid Al Fitr to ensure food safety.
The General Authority for Veterinary Services has activated central and local operations rooms across Egypt during the Eid Al Fitr holiday period as part of measures to safeguard public health and food safety.
The initiative also includes a dedicated hotline through which citizens can submit complaints, reports and inquiries related to veterinary services and food safety.
Specialised technical teams are operating around the clock to oversee activity in abattoirs and monitor the quality of meat products available in markets.
The authority stated that the measures follow directives to intensify inspections during the holiday period, when demand for meat and animal products typically increases.
Authorities are also receiving reports concerning suspected epidemic diseases and potential violations related to the handling and sale of products of animal origin.
Provincial veterinary directorates have formed rapid response teams that deploy when reports are received to address issues affecting herd health or food safety. In parallel, inspection campaigns are being carried out with other oversight bodies across butcher shops, markets and cold storage facilities to verify that products are fit for human consumption.
