US State Department Orders Non-Emergency Staff & Families to Leave UAE

The United States raised its travel advisory for the UAE to Level 3, “Reconsider travel due to the threat of armed conflict and terrorism.” This comes shortly after a drone strike targeted and hit the vicinity of the US Consulate in Dubai on Tuesday night. The State Department ordered its non-emergency diplomatic staff and their families to leave the country.

Earlier that day, drone strikes targeted and hit the US Embassy in Riyadh. US diplomatic facilities, including consulates and embassies, have been targeted by Iran and Iran-backed militias in retaliation after the US and Israel launched joint and ongoing attacks against Iran’s leadership and military.

On March 2nd, the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, Mora Namdar, posted an advisory urging American citizens to depart the Middle East, including the UAE, on X.
