UAE to Host Headquarters of New Gulf Civil Aviation Authority
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority said the body will harmonise legislation, improve safety and security oversight, and coordinate on technology across Gulf aviation.
Gulf Cooperation Council states have established a joint civil aviation authority and selected the United Arab Emirates to host its headquarters. The decision was adopted by the Gulf Cooperation Council Supreme Council to strengthen cooperation across the bloc’s aviation sector. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority said the new entity will work to harmonise regulatory frameworks across member states. The authority will support efforts to align legislation, improve safety and security oversight, and help countries keep pace with rapid technological changes in aviation. It added that the body is expected to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen the Gulf’s role in international aviation forums. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority said it will support the new Gulf Cooperation Council aviation authority as it begins work to align standards and oversight across member states.
