UAE Extends Golden Visa Benefits to Include Emergency Support Abroad
Consular support previously limited to Emiratis will now cover holders of the renewable 10 year visa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expanded the United Arab Emirates golden visa residency scheme to provide emergency support overseas to visa holders, extending consular services that were previously limited to Emiratis. The move was unveiled at Gitex Global in Dubai and applies to foreign residents holding the renewable 10 year visa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the new support includes access to a dedicated hotline through its call centre, inclusion in evacuation and emergency plans during crises abroad, and assistance with repatriation of remains and co ordination for burial in the United Arab Emirates. Golden visa holders who lose or damage their passport while outside the country will also be able to obtain a document enabling their return to the United Arab Emirates with ministry support.
The golden visa programme, introduced in 2018, grants renewable 10 year residency to eligible applicants. Eligibility routes include property ownership valued at AED 2 million or more, at least AED 2 million in a bank fixed deposit or a United Arab Emirates investment fund in the emirate of application, a minimum monthly gross salary of AED 30,000 for skilled workers, or nomination under special talent categories such as business, entertainment and sport. Application costs vary by case and typically range between AED 5,000 and AED 9,000 for medical tests, Emirates ID and residency processing.
Applicants must hold a passport valid for more than six months at the time of application and provide attested education certificates, including equivalency verification from the Ministry of Education, with a no objection certificate required if there is no government nomination. Upon approval, candidates complete a medical examination and biometric capture as part of the residency issuance process.
