Temperatures to Drop Below Zero in Parts of Saudi Arabia

Temperatures are set to fall below zero across parts of northern and central Saudi Arabia from January 14th to 17th, with subzero readings expected through Saturday. The cold wave will begin on Wednesday and continue into the weekend, affecting multiple regions as it moves across the country.

The National Center for Meteorology said the cold spell will first affect the regions of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders and Hail, as well as the northern parts of the Madinah region, from Wednesday through the end of the week. Minimum temperatures in these areas are forecast to range between −3°C and −1°C, with freezing conditions likely during nighttime and early morning hours.

The centre expects the cold air mass to expand south on Friday and Saturday, bringing lower temperatures to the Qassim region, the northern parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh. In those areas, minimum temperatures are projected to range from −4°C to 1°C.

The forecast follows recent weather advisories issued by the National Center for Meteorology for rainfall and colder-than-usual conditions coinciding with the mid-school-year break. The centre urged residents in affected regions to take necessary precautions against low temperatures, particularly overnight, and to follow official updates through its platforms as conditions develop.
