Sharjah Approves Electronic Toll System for Truck Traffic
Sharjah will introduce an electronic toll system for trucks, converting existing gates to improve traffic flow and efficiency.
The Sharjah Executive Council has approved the implementation of an electronic traffic toll system for trucks, known as Masaar, alongside a resolution to convert existing truck toll gates into fully electronic gates across the emirate.
The move is aimed at regulating truck movement, simplifying crossing procedures, and improving traffic flow on major roads, while enhancing the overall efficiency of Sharjah’s transport network. By shifting to electronic tolling, the system is expected to reduce congestion at truck crossings and support smoother freight movement.
The Masaar system forms part of broader efforts to strengthen road safety and advance digital transformation in government services. Converting manual toll gates into electronic ones is intended to improve operational efficiency and provide more accurate monitoring and management of truck traffic.
