New Plant to Turn Used Cooking Oil Into Biodiesel in Egypt
The Tenth of Ramadan facility will convert waste oil into fuel at a capacity of 100 tonnes per day.
Qatar-based Al Mana Holding will invest USD 15.6 million to establish a biodiesel production facility in Egypt’s integrated waste management city in Tenth of Ramadan, which will convert used cooking oil into fuel.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the plant is designed with a processing capacity of 100 tonnes per day. The investment covers construction of the facility as well as storage and logistics systems to secure feedstock from multiple sources.
Egypt consumes approximately 2.8 million tonnes of edible oil annually, generating around 2.6 million tons of used cooking oil. The project aims to channel part of this waste stream into structured recycling and energy production.
Al Mana Holding plans to enter Egypt’s used oil collection market by launching a mobile application that rewards households for safe disposal. In parallel, the company will build collection networks targeting food manufacturers and fast-food chains to ensure stable supply for the plant.
