New Units Enable Remote National ID Renewal for the Elderly

The Ministry of Interior has expanded its Civil Status Sector services by deploying mobile units across several governorates to facilitate the issuance and renewal of national ID cards and official documents. The initiative is part of a broader policy to enhance community outreach and improve access to public services, particularly for the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, and those with limited mobility.

Technically and logistically equipped convoys have been dispatched to Cairo, Giza, Matrouh, Monufia, Qalyubia, Beheira, Minya, Assiut, and North Sinai. These efforts resulted in the issuance of 3,606 national ID cards and over 14,500 official documents.

In response to growing demand, mobile units will continue operating in these governorates starting in June 2025.

The Civil Status Sector has also responded to direct citizen requests via dedicated hotlines, fulfilling same-day service for urgent and humanitarian cases. This included home and hospital visits for 37 individuals with medical conditions, elderly citizens, and people with disabilities, with documents delivered directly to them.

In addition, services have been extended to staff and visitors at the New Administrative Capital and several private clubs, where 86 individuals received new or renewed national ID cards. The sector also continued to serve senior citizens and people with disabilities at its model service centre, issuing 168 ID cards.
