New Ekram Bundle Simplifies Death-Related Services in UAE

Emirates Health Services has launched Ekram, a smart service bundle that consolidates 40 government procedures related to death into a single digital step, aimed at simplifying processes for families and reducing administrative burden.
Developed in cooperation with 77 federal and local partner entities, the integrated system is designed to remove the need for multiple visits and paperwork. Emirates Health Services estimates the bundle will save more than 157,000 working hours by streamlining the customer journey.
The Ekram process begins with death notification and the issuance of death certificates and burial permits. It also encompasses condolence arrangements, pension and financial entitlements, and logistical support, all delivered through a unified platform. The service is available to citizens, residents and visitors, with plans to extend it to cases involving Emirati citizens who pass away abroad.
An executive taskforce, comprising representatives from participating entities, reviewed the full customer journey prior to launch. Weekly progress reports and a structured implementation plan have been put in place to support continuous improvement.
