Four New Solar Plants to Be Built in Dubai
Sites at Dubai Investments Park 2 Motor City and Expo City Dubai will host more than 1860 panels across rooftops parking structures thermal storage tanks and a vertical facade under a solar model.
Emicool, a district cooling provider jointly owned by Dubai Investments and Actis, partnered with Yellow Door Energy to commission four solar power plants across Dubai with a combined capacity of 1.2 megawatts peak. Implemented under a solar lease, the systems are expected to generate 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and reduce carbon emissions by around 600 tonnes, equivalent to the annual electricity use of 100 homes. The plants will be located at Dubai Investments Park 2, Motor City and Expo City Dubai. The sites comprise more than 1,860 solar panels installed on rooftops, parking structures, thermal energy storage tanks and a vertical façade designed to increase generation in dense urban settings. Under the solar lease model, Yellow Door Energy will finance, build and operate the systems throughout their lifecycle, enabling Emicool to integrate on-site generation without upfront capital expenditure. Yellow Door Energy stated that the projects take its portfolio past one billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity generated to date.
