Etihad Rail ran three passenger services between the Saudi Arabian border and Abu Dhabi this week, transporting more than 350 Emiratis and UAE residents home ahead of the network's official launch, as regional developments continued to ground flights across the country.
The services ran between Al Ghuwaifat Station in the Al Dhafra region and Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi, following the temporary suspension of certain flight services, and were carried out in coordination with Saudi Arabian authorities.
Etihad Rail's passenger service is due to officially launch later in 2026, connecting 11 cities in UAE.
