Egyptian Critics Join 2025 Golden Globes Voting Panel

Egypt will have a stronger presence than ever at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, with eight Egyptian critics and cultural figures joining the official voting panel. The newly appointed members include film critic Hosam Fahmy, an active voice in the Arab Cinema Center’s Critics Awards.

Also serving as voters are TV host, actor, and producer Mico Saad; journalist and editor Moetaz Elshafey; writer and critic Mohamed Hashem A. Tawfik; journalist and critic Mohamed Abdelgalil; film critic Wael Khairy; journalist Ramy Nawar; and Yasmine Shihata, founder and CEO of Enigma Magazine.
The Golden Globes are among the most closely watched film and television awards worldwide. While Egypt has long played a central role in Arab cinema, its influence in shaping award outcomes in the West has historically been minimal.

The inclusion of Egyptian voices on the panel reflects a growing international recognition of regional critics and cultural commentators.

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 5th.
