Egypt to Host Gaza Reconstruction Conference in November

Egypt will host the Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza in November 2025. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that the gathering will build on the momentum of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit to support reconstruction efforts in the strip. President El-Sisi made the statement during a joint meeting with several leaders and heads of state held on the sidelines of the summit, which brought together representatives from 31 countries as well as international and regional organisations to mark the signing of an agreement to end the Israeli war on Gaza. According to the Egyptian presidency, attendees included Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, French President Emmanuel Macron, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. During the discussions, President El-Sisi urged European countries to encourage all parties to fully implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement. He noted that Egypt and Jordan are currently training Palestinian police officers and called for European support to continue and expand the programme. Participants stressed the need to expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, clear the debris, and establish a coordination mechanism among summit participants to agree on concrete steps for reconstruction and early recovery. The presidency said the meeting aimed to enhance coordination among the attending countries regarding the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and supporting efforts to reconstruct and provide humanitarian relief in the strip.
