Egypt Advances 24 Points in UN Employment Index 2024
Egypt’s national development strategy has included infrastructure investment and greater private-sector participation.
Egypt’s performance on the UN Employment Index climbed from 50 points in 2014 to 74 points in 2024 — marking a 24-point improvement over ten years.
The Employment Index is a sub-indicator of Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which focuses on promoting decent work and sustained economic growth. It evaluates a country’s ability to provide meaningful employment for its working-age population, and to improve job quality and productivity.
Egypt’s comprehensive national development strategy has included infrastructure investment, greater private-sector participation, and policies designed to attract both domestic and foreign investment, which has generated millions of direct and indirect job opportunities.
