Dubai Public Transport & Taxis Record 802 Million Journeys in 2025
Public transport and taxi trips reached 802 million in 2025, averaging 2.2 million journeys a day.
Public transport and taxi journeys in Dubai reached 802 million in 2025, according to figures released by the Roads and Transport Authority. The total reflects an average of 2.2 million trips per day and marks a 7.8% increase compared to 2024. October was the busiest month of the year, with 72.8 million journeys recorded.
The tally includes trips made on the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses and marine transport services such as abras, ferries and water taxis, in addition to shared mobility options and taxis. The authority described the growth as part of a broader shift in mobility patterns across the city, linked to infrastructure investment, smart systems and multi-modal integration.
Dubai Metro accounted for the largest share of users at 37%, carrying 294.7 million riders across the Red and Green lines, a 7% annual increase. On the Red Line, Union Station recorded 13.6 million riders, followed by Mall of the Emirates with 11.2 million and Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall with 10.9 million. On the Green Line, Sharaf DG Station saw 10.5 million riders, ahead of Baniyas Square with 8.4 million and Stadium with 7.5 million.
Taxis carried 209 million riders, representing 26% of total users, while public buses accounted for roughly a quarter of all journeys in 2025.
Plans for 2026 include expanding dedicated bus and taxi lanes by 13 kilometres to create a 20 kilometre network. The authority expects the move to improve on-time performance by 42% and reduce journey times by 41%. A trackless tram project is also planned across eight locations, using an autonomous electric system guided by cameras that detect painted road markings.
