Dubai Metro Launches AI-Driven Maintenance to Boost Efficiency
The new AI system enables predictive maintenance for Dubai Metro, cutting response times and improving operational efficiency across all lines.

Dubai Metro has implemented an artificial intelligence-powered maintenance system designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce service disruptions across its network. The new system, announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), uses AI algorithms to monitor the condition of trains and infrastructure in real time, enabling predictive maintenance and faster response to technical issues.
The AI-driven platform analyses data from sensors installed on trains and tracks, identifying potential faults before they escalate into service-affecting problems. This approach allows maintenance teams to address issues proactively, minimising downtime and improving the reliability of metro services for daily commuters.
According to the RTA, the system covers all aspects of metro operations, including rolling stock, signalling, and station equipment. The technology is designed to optimise maintenance schedules, allocate resources more efficiently, and extend the lifespan of critical assets.
Dubai Metro’s adoption of AI maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technology into public transport operations. The RTA reports that the new system has already contributed to a reduction in unplanned service interruptions and improved punctuality rates across the Red and Green Lines, and plans to incorporate additional data sources and machine learning capabilities to refine and expand the AI system.
