Abu Dhabi Locks in Middle East Film & Comic Con Through 2027

Abu Dhabi is set to remain the home of the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) through 2027, following an agreement between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and organiser Informa. The deal, finalised during Arabian Travel Market 2025, secures the capital’s role in shaping the region’s fast-rising pop culture scene.

Since relocating from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 2022, MEFCC has undergone a sharp evolution. What was once a niche gathering has grown into the Middle East’s flagship pop culture event, attracting global attention and a steadily growing fan base.

This year’s edition, held from April 18th to the 20th, drew 38,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and featured appearances from major names across film, TV and gaming. The 2025 guest list included actors Andrew Garfield, Charlie Cox, Natalia Dyer, and Emily Rudd, alongside anime voice star Hideo Ishikawa.

Beyond celebrity panels and signings, MEFCC has expanded into a broader cultural platform. The Gaming Arena, developed with Abu Dhabi Gaming, hosted competitions across PC, console, and mobile titles, while exclusive demos and esports challenges cemented the event’s appeal to the region’s growing gaming community.
