A New Electric High-Speed Rail Will Link Saudi Arabia With Qatar
The 785 km line will link Riyadh and Doha via Dammam and Al Ahsa at over 300 km/h, cutting the journey to about two hours.
An agreement for an electric high-speed railway linking Saudi Arabia and Qatar was approved by the Council of Ministers during a session held in Riyadh, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
The intergovernmental agreement provides for the development of a 785 kilometre electric high-speed passenger line connecting Riyadh and Doha. Trains on the route are expected to operate at speeds exceeding 300 kilometres per hour.
Key stations along the line will include Dammam and Al Ahsa. Once operational, the railway is projected to reduce travel time between the two capitals to approximately two hours.
