A Film Production City Is Rising Near the Pyramids of Giza

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that a major film production city will be established near the Giza Pyramids. The project, which is being developed with private-sector participation, is envisioned to host both international and Egyptian productions, offering full-scale sets, sound stages and accommodation facilities for film crews. The proposed site overlooks the Giza Plateau and is planned to integrate with nearby developments, including the Grand Egyptian Museum. Officials said the new destination aims to attract large-scale productions that require expansive outdoor sets alongside controlled studio environments. During the same announcement, the Cabinet granted the Egyptian Film Commission—operating under the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC)—expanded powers to oversee approvals for foreign film and television productions. A unified digital platform will consolidate all required permits to simplify the process for international companies working in Egypt.
