New Data-Driven Framework to Boost Investment Performance in Egypt

A data-driven framework to improve investment performance and global competitiveness has been outlined during a meeting between Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the International Finance Corporation.

The approach centres on the use of key performance indicators, updated dashboards and monthly monitoring of metrics including foreign direct investment inflows, new business formation and growth in strategic sectors.

Plans also include updating and integrating national databases with advanced systems to support decision-making and improve oversight of import and export data.

Discussions highlighted sustainable financing mechanisms through professional investment funds aimed at supporting start-ups, with international partners positioned to contribute to project selection and performance monitoring.

The agenda also addressed the development of a carbon market to attract green investment, including expanding carbon trading mechanisms and encouraging the issuance and trading of renewable energy certificates. Revenues from these activities are expected to support environmental and agricultural projects while contributing to emissions reduction.

Digital transformation formed a central part of the framework, including the proposed development of a TradeTech Sandbox. The platform would integrate data from multiple government entities and international sources, using financial technology, big data and advanced analytics to generate market insights and identify export and investment opportunities.

Artificial intelligence start-ups are expected to support the development of analytical tools, alongside efforts to map stakeholders and align investment opportunities with market demand.

The framework also includes a focus on human capital development across institutions involved in investment and trade.
