Sotheby’s will stage what it describes as the most expensive art exhibition in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi, with works valued at USD 150 million. Scheduled for October 1st and the 2nd, 2025, the exhibition will be held at the Freiha Art Foundation and marks the auction house’s first fine art exhibition in the UAE.
The display will feature works by Vincent van Gogh, René Magritte, Frida Kahlo and Edvard Munch. Highlighted pieces include Edvard Munch’s 'St. John’s Night' ('Midsummer Night’s Eve') (1901–1903) from the private collection of American collector Leonard A. Lauder, Magritte’s 'Le Jockey perdu' (1942) from the Bucksbaum collection, and paintings by van Gogh and Gauguin from Cindy and Jay Pritzker’s Chicago home.
Many of the works have not been publicly exhibited in decades. Following the Abu Dhabi showing, the collection will travel to Paris and London, before reaching New York for auction.
