Mohamed Salama to Direct Ferry Disaster Series for Ramadan 2027
'Al-Abbara' stars Ghada Adel and Eyad Nassar in a survival story set after a ferry sinks in the Red Sea.
Egyptian director Mohamed Salama is set to direct 'Al-Abbara', a four-episode original series for the Kuwaiti streaming platform Shasha, scheduled to premiere during Ramadan 2027.
Inspired by true events, the series stars Ghada Adel and Eyad Nassar, alongside Gulf actors Sarah Tayeb, Baraa Alam, and Nayef Al-Dhafeeri.
Set in the aftermath of a ferry sinking in the Red Sea, the story follows a group of passengers facing an uncertain fate. As they struggle to survive, the disaster exposes different sides of each character through the choices they make under pressure.
According to the production, 'Al-Abbara' is the largest project of Salama's career to date. Following the large-scale flood sequences he directed in 'Mousa', the new series will feature complex ferry sinking scenes filmed in a specially constructed studio using advanced production techniques and visual effects.
