Director Ayten Amin Starts Shooting Star-Studded Comedy 'Al Shalaby'

Award-winning director Ayten Amin has started shooting her third feature film, ‘Al Shalaby’. Featuring a star-studded cast, the comedy follows the story of four siblings - played by Egyptian actresses Lebleba, Laila Eloui, Sawsan Badr, and Heidy Karam - who come together for a typical family ezouma, and are forced to navigate the conversational timebombs packed within their conflicting viewpoints.

Co-written by Ayten Amin, Eslam Hossam and Ahmed Raouf, the film’s cast features actors Asmaa Galal, Mahmoud El Bezzawi and Hassan Malek.

Amin is best known for tackling notions of womanhood, relationships and socially driven plots through her works. Her latest film, ‘Souad’ (2020), was selected for Cannes Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival, and she co-directed the hit Egyptian show ‘Sabe’a Gar’ (2017). Earlier this year, the filmmaker was also tapped to join the jury at the Berlin Film Festival.
