Cast of 'Spring Came on Laughing' to Host Talk at Zawya
Following the screening of Spring Came on Laughing at Zawya, the film’s cast joins a discussion about their debut acting experience.
After a celebrated festival run, Spring Came on Laughing makes its first commercial debut at Zawya, with a special screening and cast discussion on Saturday, November 8th at 7 p.m. The post-screening talk will feature Rehab Enan, Carole Akkad, Reem El Akkad, Reem Safwat, Kawthar Younis - who also produced the film - and Roka Yasser, all non-professional performers making their on-screen debut. The conversation will be moderated by actress Donia Sami. Directed by Noha Adel, the film interlaces four stories set in springtime, peeling back the season’s familiar promise of renewal to uncover anger, sorrow, and hidden truths. At the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, Spring Came on Laughing took home four major awards: the Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution, the FIPRESCI Prize from the International Federation of Film Critics, the Salah Abu Seif Award for Best Director, and a Special Mention for Rehab Enan. It was the only Egyptian feature to compete in the festival’s International Competition that year.
