Dubai Culture Offers Free Animation Course
Dubai Culture’s new ‘Harakat Sikka’ programme offers free, beginner-friendly animation training, with sessions led by industry professionals in a working studio environment.

Dubai Culture has launched ‘Harakat Sikka’, a new training programme offering free animation workshops for beginners. Held in partnership with Art Jameel and the Animation Chamber, the initiative began its first round on August 3rd and will run through August 9th at the Al Quoz Creative Zone.
Open to participants aged 18 and above, the programme requires no formal background in art or design. Trainees are introduced to all stages of the animation process, including storyboarding, visual development, sound design, and post-production. Sessions are taught by working animators and conducted in a professional studio environment to give participants a practical sense of real-world production.
The programme adopts a hybrid model, with classes held both in person and online to maximise accessibility. By the end of the course, attendees are expected to complete a short animated film, either independently or as part of a team.
‘Harakat Sikka’ is the first in a series of planned creative training cycles from Dubai Culture, each focused on a different discipline. Organisers selected animation to launch the initiative, citing its growing popularity in the UAE and increasing demand for local talent in digital storytelling.
