Monochrome Monday: Cloud Pink
This week’s edit looks at what happens when fashion takes the sweetness out of pink.
Pink has spent decades carrying more cultural baggage than almost any other colour. Girlish, romantic, rebellious, provocative, its meaning has rarely been neutral. Cloud Pink offers something of a reset. Pale and slightly washed out, it lets the construction of a garment speak before the colour does, making room for pleating, draping, embellishment and proportion to become the real point of interest.
That makes it particularly convincing across this edit. THYM and Maison Cece take the shade into eveningwear, while Abadia uses draped jersey to give its softness a more sensual direction. Mayka loosens things up with a matching set, and L’atelier Nawbar and Marzook shrink the colour down to jewellery. Be Native takes it furthest from convention, putting pale pink on a sneaker and proving that the colour no longer needs romance to make sense in a wardrobe.
