flydubai Resumes Flights to Damascus After 12-Year Hiatus

flydubai has announced the return of direct flights between Dubai and Syria’s Damascus, set to begin June 1st, 2025—marking the first commercial route between the two cities in over a decade.

Departing daily from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM), the service comes just ahead of the Eid Al Adha holiday and peak summer travel season. The move follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s decision earlier this year to reinstate air links with Syria.

Damascus, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, was among flydubai’s original destinations when the airline launched operations in 2009. Its reintroduction into the network is being positioned as both a logistical and symbolic step, strengthening regional ties and offering more accessible travel to a city long admired for its historical and cultural significance.

flydubai becomes the first UAE carrier to resume operations to Syria since flights were suspended 12 years ago.
